Identification
I’m available to identify predatory wasps from the Southeast and Midwest of the USA. I have identified wasps for projects at the University of Florida, the University of Central Florida, Michigan State University, the University of Minnesota, and NGOs. I also have identified Vespinae wasps for projects in Europe.
Groups I do:
Chrysididae
Crabronidae
Eumeninae
Pompilidae
Scoliidae
Sphecidae
Pompilidae
Tiphiidae
Vespinae
Contracts with less than 250 specimens can be done directly with me. Anything bigger, time-sensitive, or with a larger scope will go through the University of Florida, where I am employed, and will be done as part of my day job. I’m unavailable from January to the end of May due to field season.
Cost: $1 per specimen for students without institutional or grant support $2 per specimen for everyone else For contracts over 250 specimens, the price will change to $23 hourly, and payment will go to UF. All specimens must be pinned, organized to family, and have a unique ID with locality and date, and with metadata entered in an excel sheet.
Please send all specimens of the groups or taxa that you are requesting identification services for, and not just a subset of representative specimens. You will get back: labeled specimens, a spreadsheet with genera, species, sex, authority, and the taxon concept/identification key used. For publications, giving me authorship is not required for surveys, but my name and affiliation must appear in methods or in acknowledgments. For publications involving any taxonomic work, let’s talk.
